IPPN is offering a distinct Programme for Teaching Principals in Limerick/Clare this July.
‘Teaching Principals – Leadership and Learning in Small Schools’
This programme is designed for Teaching Principals will cater for 2 specific cohorts in the Teaching Principal Community – it will also include content for Newly Appointed Teaching Principals.
- Teaching Principals in 1 & 2 teacher schools
- Teaching Principals 3 – 7 teacher schools
For all principals the current demands of school leadership are challenging. For the teaching principal those challenges are combined with the responsibilities attached to being a class teacher.

Venue 1 - Radisson Blu, Limerick - July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th
This event will present a practical approach addressing many of the issues that are the day-to-day experience of teaching principals – overload, prioritising, time management, communication, policies, governance, planning and teaching – and more.
The course provides an opportunity to
- step back, reflect, meet and dialogue with principals in similar situations
- develop good practices.
Topics Covered will include
- School self-evaluation
- policies and legislative impacts on schools
- Governance and issues relating to new Boards of Management
Peer Collaboration
Smaller peer groups for leaders of 1& 2 teacher schools and 3–7 teacher schools will provide opportunities for development through
- sharing common experiences
- working together on planning
- strategies for more effective communication and work-management
